“The new Expedition cases are thoughtfully designed, and with the Sidekick attachment they’ve become indispensable. I use the combo on every Expedition case I own — it’s exactly what I needed.”

“These cases have protected my instruments through everything that has been thrown at them — in the studio and on the road. Since purchasing my first one nearly a decade ago, I’ve felt no need to search for anything else.”

Marc LeGrand is a Nicaraguan-American guitarist, composer, and producer based in New York City. His work inhabits the space between precision and presence, where technical mastery meets emotional depth. Known for his clarity, sensitivity, and versatility, Marc brings a deep command of his instrument to every musical setting — not to impose, but to make space with clarity and care for something truer to be heard.

Marc’s musical journey began in the San Francisco Bay Area, where early mentorships with Patricia Thúmas, Dr. John Calloway, and José “Chepito” Areas nurtured his explorations in bebop and Afro-Cuban traditions. As a teenager, he immersed himself in modern jazz harmony and classical technique, drawing inspiration from his summers at the Stanford Jazz Institute and participation in the Latin Jazz Youth Ensemble of San Francisco. By high school graduation, Marc had become a recognized figure in the Bay Area Latin jazz community, performing regularly with esteemed collaborators.

His performances have graced stages at the San Mateo Jazz Festival, San Francisco Carnaval Salsa Festival, Stanford Jazz Festival, Yoshi’s SF, and the San Jose Jazz Festival, among others. These experiences earned him recognition for his work as a guitarist, composer, and improviser.

Marc holds a Bachelor of Music in Guitar Performance, with focuses in Composition and Improvisation, from the Greatbatch School of Music at Houghton University, where he attended on a performance scholarship. In 2023, he was honored as a finalist in the Global Music Awards, receiving medals in the Instrumentalist and Emerging Artist categories for his live performance of the original composition “Gallo Pinto.”

Today, Marc engages in a variety of performance, composition, and production collaborations. He co-leads the Global Musicianship Project with Dr. Mark Hijleh and performs as part of food court people, a collaborative project with his wife, Hannah LeGrand. Together, they approach songwriting as emotional architecture, crafting pieces that layer intimacy, memory, and mischief into a sound uniquely their own.

As an artist, Marc challenges the listener’s relationship with consonance and dissonance. His aim is to uncover an ever-widening aural palette, guiding listeners between the visceral and ethereal, and fostering a globally conscious harmonic experience.

Fast forward to 2025 Marc released his debut EP “we have that at home” with his wife Hannah as food court people.

food court people is the indie project of Hannah and Marc, blending improvisation, classical roots, and global sounds into music that defies categories. Born from a DIY ethos and a home-built studio, their songs move between texture, emotion, and reflection —- touching on themes of growth, mortality, and everyday beauty.
