Independent Luthiery provides full service guitar repair, vintage restorations, custom instruments and appraisals. My goal is to provide quality work, delivered on time, for a fair price. I only work with top quality suppliers and use American made components wherever possible. Independent Luthiery is located in historic Salem, Ma; 15mi north of Boston. My name is Gabriel Viani: I am the founder and sole luthier at Independent Luthiery. Guitar building and repair has been a part of my life since 1992 when I graduated from the Roberto-Venn school of Luthiery. Bombshell Guitar Repair was my part time repair venture from 2001 to 2012. I spent 2006-2012 working for a large scale instrument manufacturer based in Boston. I started as a Custom Shop Luthier and eventually oversaw guitar repair, guitar and amp QA/QC, overseas production and video game hardware development. In 2012 I left my product management job to focus on my private repair business and begin to offer custom instruments. Independent Luthiery is located in Salem MA, just across the street from Collins Cove Beach. In an effort to keep service as personal and focused as possible, I work by appointment. I offer very flexible hours and fast turnaround times for most repair work.
