THELL BARRIO was formed by the end of 2005 in Zapopan Jalisco, MEXICO. The group was initially created by José María Valenzuela (Gallero) and Juan Pablo Hernández (El Patron), who were later joined by Héctor Orozco (Charro), Ricardo Cortés (Solín), Marlon Peña (Drummachine) and Jorge Gómez (Chamuco). Metal is the musical style that defines their sound. However, they currently seek to break through paradigms by adding Latin elements to their compositions (such as Latin percussion and programmed sequences). Thus, complimenting the experience that transcends their genre. This interaction of styles has been called "Latincore", a term coined by their followers, but which aptly describes the characteristic fusion of musical elements of the band’s sound.
Over the years, Thell Barrio, has managed to make a name for themselves in independent music. They pursue to be the voice for those marginalized teenagers who live in conflictive neighborhoods (slums), while emphasizing the importance and values of FAMILY, UNITY and FRIENDSHIP. Thus far contributing to channel and transcend positively the complexities of this social context.
This year the group visited Guatemala to offer a couple of shows. Thell Barrio performed in Mexico as well. The band is preparing for their 5th European tour.
